The Founding
The Ministry was established for a stated purpose, namely the creation of a convenient and dignified environment for needy orphans and for other vulnerable groups including pregnant mothers, single mothers, and the elderly. That purpose was set down in a season when families across the district were under pressure from several directions at once.
Our earliest months were spent in visitation, in prayer offered over children whose school fees had run out mid-term, and in long conversations with pastors, teachers, and local leaders concerning who had been overlooked. From that period the Ministry drew a principle it has never had cause to revise, namely that assistance offered without dignity ends the moment the giver departs, while assistance joined to discipleship, learning, and skill continues to multiply within a household long after the visit has concluded.
Our Chapters of Growth
The present shape of the Ministry was not designed in advance. Each area of service opened in response to a need encountered while serving in another, and each was taken up only when leaving it unattended would have undermined everything else. Every chapter below has since matured into a programme of its own.

The children came first
Our first sustained programme gathered children for devotional class, where they worship, pray, receive teaching shaped to their individual growth, and share a meal in good company. This work remains the heartbeat of the Ministry.

The school gates opened
Knowing the children well meant coming to know their schools, and the teachers who received us made room for a weekly presence in which the gospel could be shared and guidance offered to learners deciding what their lives would be made of.

Learners required more than encouragement
Assistance with fees for one child and then another matured into a structured programme of sponsorship and scholarship, supporting vulnerable learners from nursery through to tertiary and university level.

Health and water demanded attention
Illness continued to interrupt every other gain being made, drawing the Ministry into partnership with health service facilities, into community sensitisation, and into clean water provision through the drilling and refurbishing of wells.

The elderly were not to be left behind
Older members of our communities were carrying chronic illness, failing eyesight, and difficult housing conditions with almost no support available, and their care was therefore adopted as a standing mandate rather than an occasional kindness.

Skills were placed in willing hands
Relief alone cannot lift a household permanently, and so the Ministry began equipping unemployed youths, single mothers, early school leavers, and vulnerable families with practical trades, so that dependency might give way to capability.
What has not changed
Our Anchor
Our programmes have multiplied since the Ministry was formed, bringing with them new partners, new communities, and a longer list of names held before God in prayer. Two statements have kept this Ministry steady throughout that growth, and every borehole sunk, every term of school fees met, and every sewing machine placed in a trained hand has been offered in service of them.

Ongoing Programmes
Sundays, Child Discipleship
Children between the ages of three and seventeen gather for devotional class, where the Ministry leads praise and worship, prays with them, and provides a special meal. The teaching given is intentional about each child’s spiritual growth and about helping them discover who they are in Christ.
Fridays, School Outreach
Weekly outreaches are conducted with our partnering schools, providing the opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and to offer career guidance and counselling to learners at the stage when such guidance carries the greatest weight.
Through the week, Life Skilling
Unemployed youths, single mothers, and parents are equipped with practical skills including liquid soap making, crafts, tailoring, and exercise books making, so that training concludes with a trade in hand rather than a certificate alone.
What we are believing for
he Ministry is thankful for all that has been provided, and equally willing to state plainly what remains outstanding, since these matters are brought first before God in prayer and afterwards before the friends who walk with us.
We are believing for sponsors who will stand behind the child sponsorship programme, for ministry land on which long term facilities can be established, for a means of transport so that distance ceases to determine whom we are able to serve, for office equipment including computers, cameras, and a printer or scanner, and for tailoring machines so that more women and young people may complete our skilling programme with a trade capable of feeding a household.

The story of a Ministry built on presence
Mayuge Hope Ministries is a Christian faith-based ministry serving orphaned children, single and expectant mothers, and the elderly across Mayuge District.
Mayuge Hope Ministries was formed in 2020 by a group of Christians in Mayuge District who carried a shared burden for the vulnerable people living around them. Children were leaving classrooms without explanation, mothers were raising families without support, and elderly men and women who had spent their strength in years of labour were entering old age with very little to sustain them.
Our founding conviction was that liberty proclaimed through the gospel of Jesus Christ is proclaimed most clearly when accompanied by practical help. That conviction sent our first members into the homes nearest to them, and the Ministry took its structure afterwards, drawn from the demands of the work rather than imposed upon it.
